OWNER: My name is Cathy Fislar and pets are my passion! Pets have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I grew up in southern Indiana and come from a big Catholic family. We had a great dog named Pierre and although he was a poodle, he was more of a rough and tough low maintenance dog. After high school, I attended ISU (I was there at the same time as Larry Bird) and received a BA in Office Administration. After graduation, I moved to Indianapolis and for the first 20 years of my career, I worked for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis (the Catholic Church). After my departure from the Catholic Center in 2003, I worked for several different schools: St. Matthew Catholic School, Heritage Christian School and the Carmel Clay School District. When my husband and I married, he came as a package deal with his Golden Retriever, Stasha. Stasha lived to the ripe old age of 13. She died when my son was two weeks old.
FAMILY: When our daughter was four and our son was two, we decided that we were ready for another addition to our family. Nala is our family dog and she is just adorable! She is three-fourths Shih Tzu and one-fourth Maltese. A few years ago, Smokey (a beautiful gray kitty--see picture below) became a member of our family. Nala and Smokey bring us hours of entertainment and so much love. We have been active members of St. Matthew Church for 15 years. Our children attended St. Matthew School and Heritage Christian School for their elementary and middle school years. They now attend Lawrence Central High School and Bishop Chatard High School. Family is the name of the game at Cat Tails & Dog Ears Pet Sitting. My husband Ed and my sister, Mary Verkamp, are members of the team and assist me with giving your pets lots of TLC.
PASSION: Prior to starting my business, I had been listening to a radio talk show and the question "What is your passion?" was posed to a caller. I began pondering this question myself. Then it hit me while my husband and I were driving to our son's soccer game. PETS ARE MY PASSION!
